Dear CJHS Football Players and Parents,

Please read the following letter carefully for important information regarding the football program.

Requirements

  • MHSAA Medical History and Physical form must be signed, stamped and dated by physician. Once complete this form must be presented to the coach at the first practice/conditioning session. No student will be allowed to participate without it.
  • The Athletic Responsibility and Registration Form must be completed online before they will be allowed to participate. Coaches will have access to the input information.
  • Forms can be found in the main office or downloaded below.

Costs

  • The pay-to-participate fee to participate is $200 for middle school athletics. This fee covers the student for all sports for the entire school year. The payment is due on the first day of practice/conditioning.
  • You may pay using E-Fund Payments (please print confirmation receipt, write your child's full name on receipt and present to coach) or pay by check. Please make checks payable to Clarkston Junior High School and write your child’s full name on the memo line. Any NSF check will incur a $25 handling fee. Please no cash!
  • Practice jerseys are $30. This is a separate check /money order payable to Clarkston Football. Please write your son’s first and last name on the memo line. These jerseys are the player’s to keep and can be used throughout their Clarkston football experience.

Football Camp

  • Players who attend this camp will get issued helmets in advance of the conditioning pre-season and regular season practices. They will also get a head start on learning the playbook.
  • Check back for 2018-2019 camp dates.

Conditioning

  • Check back for 2018-2019 conditioning dates and details.
  • Medical History and Physical Form, participation fee and athletic responsibility and registration form (completed online) due at beginning of session! You may not participate without them.
  • Dress in shorts, t-shirt, and football cleats (preferably) or tennis shoes for workouts.

Practice

  • Practices are every day after school (M-F), from 3pm-5:30pm.

Additional Information

  • Each player will need an athletic supporter with a protective cup in order to participate in any contact during practice and games.
  • Please pick up your child promptly after practice. Coaches have other obligations and cannot be responsible for students not picked up on time.
  • Players are encouraged to attend the summer football camp at CHS. If you plan to attend camp, you will be issued a helmet the first morning. See attached flyer for further information.
  • Players need to make sure they wear Clarkston colors with their uniforms. Black shoes are acceptable, but otherwise they should be blue. Socks worn on game day may only be ankle height, plain black. Please do not allow your child to purchase pink, green, yellow or any other color that does not match the uniform, as they will not be allowed to wear these in games.

Cross Country (Community Education)

Fall cross country begins the first full day of school and runs through the end of October. Runners of all abilities are welcome! Runners are placed into groups of the same running pace. A runner may switch groups as he/she progresses. Practices may involve workouts on the track, endurance games, and runs to close by parks or neighborhoods. There is a parent meeting at the beginning of the season to answer questions. Runners will compete in up to 10 meets during the season. The season finishes with a team banquet after out last meet. Practices are Monday–Friday after school. You will need to turn in a physical and the athletic registration packet to the coach. This packet and the team schedule can be found at clarkstoncrosscountry.org.

Meet outside of the 6th grade gym after school changed and ready to practice. Parents need to pick up their students at 4:30PM in front of SMS.

How to register

General Registration Information

Registration for 2017-2018 is now closed. Make a note to register early for 2018-2019. Many classes fill up quickly. Please register at least one week in advance so we can make class enrollment decisions. Registrants are contacted ONLY if the class is full or canceled. The most common reason for a class being canceled is low enrollment. If we cancel a class you will receive a full refund or may transfer to another class in the current semester. Clarkston Community Education reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient registrations. Community Enrichment programs are funded entirely by class fees. Any classes that do not meet the minimum enrollment requirements may be canceled.

Preregistration is required for all classes. Preregistration is required for all programs. NO drop-in registration on the day of the class will be offered.

Drops/Refunds

Please read carefully before registering for a class. Full refund will be given if class is canceled by the office. Student request refunds must be made prior to the beginning of the second class, regardless of attendance. All student requested refunds will be charged a $10 processing fee. The cost of materials cannot be refunded. No refunds will be issued for classes/events meeting once or twice unless requested two business days in advance of starting date.

Payment: cash, check (made out to Independence Township), Visa or MasterCard

Inclement Weather/School Closing: When Clarkston Community Schools are closed, all Community Education classes will be canceled. We will attempt to make up all classes.

Wrestling

If you participated in a fall sport you DO NOT need to duplicate these forms.

  3. Pay the Interscholastic Pay to Participate Fee of $200 if selected for the 7th grade team.

7th & 8th Grade Competitive Cheer (Community Ed.)

7/8 Girls Competitive Cheer begins Nov. 8 and runs through Jan. 18. Practices will take place Monday through Friday from 3pm-5pm in the SMS sixth grade cafeteria. The team will compete at five local competitions throughout the season. Competitive cheer is a girls’ sport sanctioned by the MHSAA.

Tryouts will take place on Nov. 6-7 from 3pm-5pm in the SMS sixth grade cafeteria. No experience is necessary in order to try out.

There will be a mandatory Parent & Athlete Meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 7pm in the CJHS LGI room. Come to the meeting to meet the new coach, find out what competitive cheer is all about, and receive all of your paperwork for tryouts.

If chosen for a team, a registration fee of $200 will be due to Clarkston Community Education immediately following the tryout.
